All workshops are designed for adults sixteen or older, and most all supplies are provided. Please see description for individual class requirements and costs per class. Preregistration is required so that we may prepare enough materials for each class. Because of our investment in materials provided, cancellations a week or less prior to the workshop cannot be refunded. Before that, you may cancel or transfer to a different class for a $25 fee. June 1, 9am - noon: Drop In Watercolor Workshop – Join us for a group painting session where we focus on works in progress for critique, design advice, and technique in a supportive, encouraging environment. Bring your materials for a fun filled, informative morning of creativity. $15 per person. Registration required.

June 17, 9am – noon: Masu Message Boxes - Learn the art of paper folding as you create your embellished message box! The outside can be the design of your choice, and folded inside will be your secret message – words of encouragement, secret sentiments, thoughts to release into the universe, or whatever you are inclined to write. In this three-hour writing and making session, you will create one lidded, embellished box and leave with instructions on how to make more. All supplies provided. $40 per person. Registration required.

June 30, 9am – noon: Watercolor Flowers – Select your favorite flowers from our collection and create a mini bouquet, then spend the morning learning how to create a loose, colorful watercolor painting of your posies! All materials provided, and you get to take the flowers and your masterpiece with you. $65 per person. Registration required.

July 17, 10am – 4pm: Watercolor Boot Camp – If you’ve never worked with watercolors, or if you’re rusty with the medium and want to refresh your skills, this is the class for you! In this immersive experience we will cover materials, techniques, design, a little history, and have a lot of fun! All experience levels welcome, and all supplies are provided. We will have demos and plenty of hands-on making. You will go home with a completed painting and a better understanding of the wonderful world of watercolor. $75 per person. Registration is required.

August 5, 5:30pm – 8pm: Paint a Story - Accordion Books – Using simple paper folding techniques, we will create a collaborative accordion fold book with cover. We will have a timed free writing session that we will use to create a single narrative, then make our book using watercolor paper and various mark making materials. Perfect for writers and visual artists, as it combines the best of each medium! Each participant will go home with a completed book. All supplies provided. $45 per person. Registration required.

August 14, 10 – 4pm: From Field to Finished! – In this daylong workshop, our morning session will feature the chance explore our beautiful surroundings in downtown Manteo as we create field sketches of what we find. We will make visual and written notes, record colors, do quick sketches along the waterfront, and talk about the best practices for documenting what you find. After a break for lunch, we will spend the afternoon developing our sketches into a painting! A list of materials will be provided with registration, but just the basics will be required – sketchbook, pencils, painting medium and surface of choice. You will also have plenty of materials to try in the studio. Open to all levels of experience. $65 per person. Registration required.
