Fay Davis Edwards has been watching people throughout her life, fascinated by what is considered beautiful in her culture. Her current body of work has been an exploration of body image, with an emphasis on subjects that may not necessarily be considered glamorous by current standards. Working in watercolor, she hopes to convey a beauty in the old, thin, heavy, or disfigured subjects that might otherwise be overlooked. Pairing these figures with the delicate medium of watercolor seemed natural to highlight this beauty.
Other works investigate the beauty of flesh itself, with studies of butcher shops and what may be tomorrow's dinner. There are also paintings from the rural American South.
